Got up as normal.Made myself a strong cup of coffee, lit my first cigarette of the day and turned my radio on.........
BRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRG!!!!! - NOISE!!!!

It was about 0830,so I tuned to 5815,knowing full well that Orion would be on.He is like a little Dutch Big Ben.
Regular as clockwork!!
Heard nothing with all the noise...........

Tuned across 48m .......
BRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRG!!!!! - NOISE!!!!

But I kept trying.By 0850 I could hear Orion.Strong but a lot of local noise.By 0930 the noise was less and I could now get Orion and Magic over the noise, but nothing else.By 1000 Mystery were "just" coming through too.

At 1030 I gave up.Went out and got the Sunday newspapers.
I love my Pirate radio but BRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRGRRRG!!!!! - NOISE!!!! Is too much!

I got back and was just about to settle down and read the papers and thought to myself, let's try the radio one LAST time.

Glad I did.Steaming great signal from Borderhunter!Flattening the noise!By 1100 the noise had gone and loads more stations started to come in!!

Geronimo SW were strong on 6210 but huge on 6250!!I guess the big rig was being tested on 6250,I have not seen any other logs for Geronimo SW on 6250 yet,but they were as strong as Borderhunter here!

Scirocco was being squeezed by good signals from Northpole on 6315 and Magic on 6325 but was OK when they both closed down.He played some very unusual but interesting music.
Northpole played some great 60's music and Magic was as slick and smooth as usual, with announcements in English,German & Dutch.

Marconi had a very good signal up on 6425 and Checkpoint was even stronger using his 500w rig through Radio Lowland's aerial.

So,in the end it was a pretty good Sunday. My noise problem is strange though.I live in a quiet suburb of London.
No industry or warehouses here, just houses and lots of open spaces. The nearest industry is about 5km away.
The noise is not coming from my house and I couldn't hear any machines making a noise at my neighbours.
With all the snow here it is even more quiet than normal!
So what can cause a noise like that which disappears gradually?

Hi John,

Your English is fine,we can understand whichever way you write.

But if you want to be precise,"Well written" is correct.

You cannot say "Wroten" in English.

But this is where the similarity between English,German,Dutch and some
Scandinavian languages can make it more confusing!

Thanks Andy
The new 220W tx was on air on Sunday on both 6210 and 6250. Chris the operator said that temperatures were so low that some of the equipment was playing up a little which is why he flipped frequencies a couple of times.
Back on air in a couple of weeks all being well and the presenter team is expanding soon too.

Hi Dave,

Interesting that the signal on 6250 was MUCH stronger than 6210.
