Weekend Report, 10-11 Dec. 2011, from Dunlo, PA, USA

Post by Dave Valko »

3924.9 R. Sallendse Boer 0017 signal here. Couldn’t get any audio. ID per Iann's chat. (10 Dec.)

3905.09 Skyline Int. 0017 Signal here as well. Actually weaker than Sallendse Boer and covered by Hams. (10 Dec.)

15085.07 R. Trans Europe Short text xmsn. Mx right a recognizeability threshold at 1238. “Here Comes the Rain Again” by Eurythmics at 1241-1244. (10 Dec.)

21490.12 R. Black Arrow Weak mx 1247, then live anmnt at 1248, “Thriller” at 1249. Just a short xmsn. (10 Dec.)

6304.84 R. Marconi Mx at 2130. ID per Terry in Iann’s chat. Still on at 01110 check. Hrd “Peggy Sue” at 0116. “I Love Rock-n-Roll” at 0128. 0138 ID for Marconi along with R. Alice. Some laughing. Into more mx. More live anmnts 0139 and ment of Internet connection. “This is radio station Marconi, and radio station Alice. A celebration program from the north part of the Netherlands”. Acknowledged rpts from Alexandr and Jon. “Greetings from Marconi, greetings from Alice. Greetings from radio station Lowland”. Went off at 0207 and I think it was Alice that came on w/QSO at a slightly different freq. Might have been on 6305.0 but was only recording and don’t know what the exact freq was at this time. Then Marconi and Alice in QSO back and forth past 0256. (10 Dec.)

6325.85 R. Caroline Just a weak carrier at 2144. The pgm had already ended. No chance for it anyway. (10 Dec.)

6297 R. Boomerang 2158 “Who Wants to Live Forever” by Queen, Polka then. “Pride” by U2 at 2206. 2208 ID anmnts w/freq. More mx, then “short transmission” anmnt, and said 2 songs then closing down. 2216 another anmnt w/greetings to USA listeners. 2221 closing anmnt and said was “from the Lim country near the North Sea”. Merry Christmas, and “Bye bye for now”. Huge signal of course. (10 Dec.)

6200 R. Orang Utan Already on at 0638 and mx in and out w/QSB. Lcl QRN was a problem as well. 0732 anmnt w/ment of Netherlands. On past 0900. (11 Dec.)

6300.02 R. Black Power Huge signal at 0638. Andean-like instru. song, 0640 canned ID, then back to mx. Hollies. Canned ID again 0651, and 0655. “Venus” by Shocking Blue. Live anmnts at 0708. Really nice signal at 0713. Jingle at 0716. “Long Tall Woman”. Live anmnts at 0802, then “Walking in My Sleep” by Roger Daltry. Went off at 0818:26. (11 Dec.)

6325 R. Altrex Signal came on at 0750:22. Hopelessly too weak. Drifted down to 6324.82 by the time the Perseus shut off at 0928. (11 Dec.)

5820.03 Orion R. Signal on late at 0759:18. Into Percy Faith at 0800. Canned ID, and into mx at 0803. AM Forum ad. Anmnts by John at 0808. “Radar Love” at 0822. John back at 0827, then U2. Still some audio by 0928. Too much lcl noise. (11 Dec.)

6214.7 King SW Signal on at 0801:06 on 6214.8 and quickly drifted down to 6214.61 in a minute, then drifted back up to 6214.79 by s/off. Thought hrd mx at times, but SSB traffic right on the freq made it really tough. Went off at 0902:45. (11 Dec.)

6254.76 R. Saxonia Definite signal peaking above the noise floor about every 20 seconds after 0912. Not even visible in the main display. Would not have even checked for this if not for Rick’s blog log. (11 Dec.)

6284.08 R. Scotland Int. Signal on the air at 0818:45. Deadair then mx start 0820. 0821 live anmnts. Tlk abt Black Power in DT. Apparent signal rpt. Played Rolling Stones. Went off at 0828:35. (11 Dec.)

6300.11 R. Black Bird?? Signal on at 0857:33 and off at 0858:29. Testing out the xmtr?? Back on at 0911:10. Poss. mx and thought hrd M anncr at 0922. Off at 0923:40 per Ricks blog log. (11 Dec.)

6307.06 R. Scotland Int. Back on here at 0832:00. Massive signal. “Lucky Love” w/voice-over anmnts. “Scotland” ID and cont. message to Black Power. Said was closing down in EG and “no QSO Sunday morning”. Went off 0841:23. (11 Dec.)

Thanks to the blogs for help on the above. Woke up with a horrible coughing fit and decided to set up the Perseus to record, and tried to go back to bed at 0640. Had to use the T2FD antenna. Not much on the air this morning. I’m glad I couldn’t go out to listen. Not only have I been sick, it was down to 10 degrees. (11 Dec.)

15080.06 R. Trans Europe On with a short test, basically only getting a carrier, but did definitely hear deep-voiced M voice right after he said he would play an ID jingle. Off at 1210:05. (11 Dec.)

12715 R. Spaceshuttle Int. Hrd carrier as early as 1135 while Jon and Terry were getting good signals. Finally mx at 1212. Voice but Unreadable at 1213. Mx and robo-voice at 1218. Recognized "Died in Your Arms Tonight" at 1221. Nice ID at 1223:55 and shoutout to someone, jingle, mx. 1226:20 more jingles. Live shoutout to guys on Iann's chat. "Tequilla" at 1242. More anmnts at 1243. spaceshuttleradio@yahoo.com Said 600 watts at 1255. (11 Dec.)
